Winter in Dhaka: layering a leather jacket without looking heavy
Mornings at 15°C, afternoons at 24°C and one jacket that has to handle both — how to layer the SINZO leather jacket and keep it in shape.
Dhaka winter is not cold, it is inconsistent. You leave home at 7am in something that feels right at 15°C and by 2pm you are carrying it. A leather jacket is the one layer that handles both ends of that day, which is exactly why it is the piece we sell most of between November and February.
Why leather works for a Dhaka winter
Leather blocks wind, which is what makes a 15°C morning feel like 12°C, and it does not trap heat the way a padded jacket does, so it stays comfortable at 24°C if you are not walking far. It also does not crease, so it still looks right at 9pm after a full day.
Three layers that work under it
The jacket (৳2,850, sizes S to XL) is cut to wear over a normal shirt, so the layers underneath are ordinary clothes, not thermal ones:
· WHITE SHIRT (৳700) — the formal layer. Shirt tucked, jacket open, works for anything from an office evening to a wedding rehearsal.
· BLACK POLO or WHITE POLO (৳700 each) — the everyday layer. Polo collar sits cleanly inside the jacket collar, no bulk at the neck.
· FALME PATCHWORK tee (৳500) or RED FALME PATCHWORK (৳500) — the weekend layer. A printed tee under a plain black jacket is the single easiest way to look like you styled it on purpose.
Down towards 12–14°C, add a thin knit under the shirt. Anything thicker than that and the jacket stops fitting the way it was cut.
Sizing so it actually layers
Take your usual size if you plan to wear it over a tee or a polo. If you will wear it over a woven shirt with a knit underneath, size up once — the shoulder is where a layered jacket starts to feel tight, not the chest. Measure across the shoulders of a jacket you already own, compare it to the size chart on the product page, and order that.
Care between wears
Leather does not need frequent cleaning; it needs to not be ruined. Hang it on a wide hanger (a wire hanger dents the shoulders permanently), wipe with a dry cloth after a dusty day, and never store it pressed against other clothes in a plastic bag. Dhaka humidity is the real enemy — mould grows in a closed bag, not on the surface. Keep it in a breathable cover, in a wardrobe with a little air movement.
Condition it once a season with a small amount of leather conditioner on a cloth, front and back panels only. Do not over-oil the seams, and never use a hair dryer, a heater or direct sun to dry it if it gets caught in rain — dry it at room temperature, blotting first.
