Sizing at SINZO: what actually fits you (straight denim, baggy, polos, jacket)

Nine out of ten messages on our WhatsApp are a sizing question, and nine out of ten of those can be answered with one measurement and one sentence. Here is the whole system.

Measure the clothes you already own, not your body

This is the fastest way to get sizing right, and almost nobody does it. Take a pair of denim that fits you well, lay it flat, and measure across the waistband from corner to corner. Double that number and you have your waist size. Do the same for the length from crotch seam to hem if you are deciding between a straight and a wide leg.

For tops, take your best-fitting polo or shirt, lay it flat and measure armpit to armpit. Double it. That chest number compared against our size chart is far more reliable than guessing from a letter size.

Our denim runs on waist numbers, not letters

· FADE BLACK — ৳1,300, sizes 28 to 40. Straight fit.

· LIGHT GREY — ৳1,000 (from ৳1,300), sizes 36 to 40. Straight fit.

· ACID ICE BLUE — ৳1,000 (from ৳1,300), sizes 36 to 40. Straight fit.

· FULL WHITE BAGGY — ৳900 (from ৳1,100), sizes 26 to 32. Wide, loose fit.

So there is no S, M or L to argue about with denim. If you are a 32 waist, you order 32. Straight-fit denim relaxes roughly half an inch with wear — if you are exactly between two numbers, take the smaller one. The wide-leg baggy should sit a little high on the waist for the cut to fall correctly, so if you are between sizes there, take the larger.

Tops: S to XXL, and they are true to size

· POLOS — BLACK, WHITE and BEIGE, ৳700 each (from ৳900), sizes S to XXL. Pique cotton, regular through the body, no need to size up.

· SHIRT — WHITE SHIRT, ৳700 (from ৳900), sizes S to XL. Slightly tapered at the waist, so if you prefer a relaxed fit over the trousers, size up once.

· TEES — FALME PATCHWORK and RED FALME PATCHWORK, ৳500 each, sizes S to XL. Regular fit, printed, pre-shrunk.

If you are between sizes on a polo, take the smaller one — pique gives a little. If you are between sizes on the shirt, take the larger one — cotton shrinks a touch in the first wash if you dry it in the sun.

The leather jacket (S to XL, ৳2,850)

This one is cut to layer over a normal shirt, so order your usual size if you will wear it over a tee or polo. If you will wear it over a woven shirt plus a thin knit in the colder weeks, go one size up — shoulders are where a layered jacket gets tight, not the chest. Compare the shoulder measurement of a jacket you already like against the size chart, and order that.

The 30-second version

· Denim: order your waist number. Between sizes? Smaller for straight, larger for wide-leg.

· Polos: true to size, size down if between.

· Shirt: true to size, size up if between or if you like it loose.

· Leather jacket: usual size, one up if layering over a shirt and knit.
