Wide-leg or straight? Choosing your denim cut by the way you actually stand
Faded black, ice blue, light grey, or a full white baggy — four denim choices, two cuts, and a simple rule for picking the one that suits your frame and your shoes.
We stock four denim styles and they fall into two shapes. Once you know which shape you want, everything else — colour, size, shoes — takes thirty seconds.
The straight fit
A straight cut drops straight from the hip without narrowing at the ankle. It sits at the waist, it does not hug the knee, and it works with almost any shoe, including formal ones. Three of our styles are straight:
· FADE BLACK — ৳1,300, sizes 28 to 40, a deliberate faded-black wash with a slightly lighter fade across the thigh
· LIGHT GREY — ৳1,000 (originally ৳1,300), sizes 36 to 40, the easiest colour to wear with a black or white polo
· ACID ICE BLUE — ৳1,000 (originally ৳1,300), sizes 36 to 40, a bright washed blue that behaves like a light neutral
Straight fit is the safer buy if you own one pair of denim. It is also the cut that survives a trend change: the same jeans looked fine in 2016 and will look fine in 2030.
The wide-leg
FULL WHITE BAGGY — ৳900 (originally ৳1,100), sizes 26 to 32. Roomy from the hip, wide through the leg, and cut to break over the shoe rather than sit on it. WAIT — verify with the number, not the look. If you have never worn a wide leg, the thing people get wrong is length: a baggy cut that ends above the shoe looks like a mistake, and the same pair that reaches the top of the sneaker looks intentional.
Wide leg suits two types of body very well: taller frames, where a straight cut can look narrow; and anyone who wants to draw attention away from the waist, because the volume starts at the hip rather than the thigh.
Matching the cut to the shoe
· Straight fit: any. Loafers and formal shoes are fine, chunky sneakers are fine.
· Wide leg: a substantial shoe. Slim canvas sneakers disappear under the hem and make the outfit look unfinished. If you wear a wide leg, wear something with a little height or a little chunky.
Colour: what to buy first
Black first, always. It hides dust, works with everything you already own, and looks deliberate even when it is creases. Light grey second — it is the colour that makes a black polo look like an outfit instead of just clothes, and it handles Dhaka dust better than white. Ice blue and white are third and fourth: both are statement colours, and white denim needs the care routine (dry indoors, wash the same day).
Sizes we actually stock
Straight: 28–40 in faded black, 36–40 in light grey and ice blue. Wide leg: 26–32 in white baggy. If your waist sits between two numbers, take the smaller size in straight denim (it relaxes about half an inch with wear) and the larger in the wide leg, which should sit a little high on the waist for the cut to hang properly.
